What is hope?
Are you living without it?
Let’s face it, life can be hard. Our choices can bring us to the biggest storm of our lives with the winds of disobedience beating us down over and over again. Standing in a pile of rubble which was once our very existence, we stare up to the heavens holding on to nothing but what we thought was to be.
Through the mist of leftover rain is a glimpse of hope. A bridge, to a possible future; a refuge from the storm. So we take a step of faith, out of that sinful relationship, away from the addiction of drugs, out of the pit of self-pity into uncertainty. When we finally realize that we can’t save ourselves, we put one foot in front of the other toward our future and extend our hand to the One who wrote the story of our lives.
As our hands connect, we look into the eyes of what seems to be a tornado of peace that encompasses God, Jesus and an exuberant light which is the Holy Spirit. Stepping forward, your past tries to keep up and hold you back, so hope grips you tighter and leads you to a freedom that you cannot begin to explain.
What is hope?
Hope is the bridge between what was and who is.
By faith you make that move onto the bridge of hope which leads you to God who is Love. And in sweet surrender you trade in all your cares, hurts, and wants; for the will of the One who created all you were to be.
So as you ponder the substance of hope in your life, remember the verse that God breathed onto the pages of Corinthians, “And these three remain, faith, hope and love, but the greatest is love.”
