"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God." john 1:1,2
So recently God has had me here in His Word. Everyone that I meet with or talk with about some heart issues, I find myself answering with the same advice, "you need to get into the word". Lately it seems as though I have been repeating this a lot. You know the old saying "let's get back to the basics"? Well let's do just that.
Verse 1and 2 of John 1 says that in the very beginning of time was the Word. It says the Word was with God and the Word was God. The reason the Word was with Him is the same reason your testimony is with you. It's part of you, it is you! God and His word cannot be separated.
God is the Word and the Word is Him. It's like it is the string that weaves the trinity together. Verse 2 says that He was in the beginning with God. He is Jesus or the Word. Do I have you confused yet? :)
Basically the bible is the very breath of God (2 Timothy 3:16) so if there is anything we want to know, we will find it in the word of God. If we are not reading the bible, then we are not in communion with God.
Be mindful, however, that just reading the bible to get your half hour in does not count. Sitting and doing our non-submissive time is no different than running a tank of gas over the top of your gas tank and expecting your car to be filled up.
God wants us to submit to His word, to His will, and to His truth. God wants us to be transformed by His word. He breathed it so that it would be written and boy is there power in that writing.
We sit so many times asking God questions and swear that He doesn't answer us. It's all right there between Genesis and Revelation. So as you pick up the bible, try thanking God for the ability to hear from Him. Enjoy your reading.
