Free At Last!

I am taking a break from our pal Daniel for a bit.  God has been doing so much in my life lately and none of it is feeling good.  When I can sit and organize my thoughts, I will definitely share.  In the meantime, I feel that we all need to take a break!  A break from the headlines, the news, and the gossip and praise God for the three women and child that were found alive in Cleveland Ohio.

These three women were missing for approximately ten years.  That's around 3,650 days which seems incomprehensible to me.  We will never know the details of what those women endured from the inside of that home.  We cannot begin to understand how to deal with the loss of this many days.  We can't even try to understand what the families are going through right now.  The media will share what they think will get ratings, highlighting the details they deem important and eventually, we will be left with old news.

The problem is that this situation is not uncommon.  There are people that have been kidnapped and either locked away or sold into slavery all over the world.  I bet you did not realize that 27 million people have been sold into slavery.  "What....slavery" you ask, "I thought that was abolished years ago?" Sadly it's true.  You can look on enditmovement.com and see for yourself.   Below is an excerpt from their site.  I encourage you to take a look and see how you can help.

YOU KNOW IT. WE KNOW IT. AS A COUNTRY, WE'VE OFFICIALLY KNOWN IT SINCE 1863. BUT HERE'S SOMETHING YOU MIGHT NOT KNOW -- SLAVERY STILL EXISTS. WE WANT EVERY MAN, WOMAN AND CHILD TO KNOW THAT THERE ARE 27 MILLION MEN, WOMEN AND CHILDREN, JUST LIKE THEM, LIVING IN THE SHADOWS. IN BROTHELS. IN FACTORIES. IN QUARRIES. WORKING AS SLAVES. IN 161 COUNTRIES. INCLUDING OUR OWN. WE ARE HERE TO SHINE A LIGHT ON SLAVERY. NO MORE BONDAGE. NO MORE SEX TRAFFICKING. NO MORE CHILD LABORERS. NO MORE, STARTING NOW.

In the meantime, with all the conversations and top stories, I encourage you to pray.  Pray for the victims of this heinous crime.  Pray that these women can lead a life free of fear.   Just a simple walk to the store will never be the same for these ladies.   Pray for their reunions with their parents and siblings. After ten years and completely different living situations, they will have little common ground.  The families can't even begin to understand what they went through.  Parents will need to learn how to parent them again.  Pray for their lives as they are probably confused on how to live one at this point.  Pray that they do not return to bondage.  Though they will not return to that home, they may kill the pain and fear by inviting a new kind of bondage into their lives via drugs, alcohol, or bad relationships.  There is so much to pray for surrounding this amazing miracle.  So let's start now!

"Lord, we want to stop, be still, and thank You!  We know that You are God!  It was no mistake to You that yesterday would be the day that the cry was finally heard.  We are so thankful that You are giving these ladies a chance at life outside of bondage.  We praise You for the parents hearts as they learned their girls were found alive.  We pray for the heart of the girl who learned that her mom was no longer with us.  God we praise You for allowing these ladies to be found alive.  But God there is a lot that goes along with this miracle.  There are lives torn, not just torn God but shredded!  These women walked out of bondage into freedom and we pray they know what to do with it.  God, I can't imagine the emotion running through those families, the closure God, it's amazing to me.  This road is going to be long and painful as the road out of bondage always is.  They have a lot of decisions to make.  Who are they to become?  What do they want to pursue?  Will they buy into the fear that it will happen again?  Will they believe the lie that they deserve crappy relationships because they are used goods?  God we pray You are known and felt throughout this process.  We pray that You are at the forefront of this situation.  We pray for forgiveness to set into the hearts of all affected, and yes Lord, that means us too.  We pray that Satan will not be successful and his lies will wash down the sewer drain on that street.  We thank You for being Sovereign and keeping track of all.  We thank You for loving us even in suffering.  You are no stranger to it as You allowed Your Son to suffer on that cross.  Lord, You had to turn Your eyes away as the sin was placed on the shoulders of Jesus.  That slight time of separation must have felt like eternity, yet it was a vapor.   Thank You for never leaving us Father, it is in Your Sons name that we pray.  Amen"
