Forgive them???

"After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen" Matthew 6:9-13 KJV

As we forgive our debtors, or as I remember forgive those who trespass against us may be the hardest thing to do in the bible. There are two reasons we need to forgive. First and foremost because God said so! It's all over the bible that this act, difficult as it may be, must be done. Ephesians 4:32 says "Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you." The second reason is for healing. Forgiving someone who has hurt you brings healing to not only your relationship but also to you.

In light of the breaking news yesterday in Willowick Ohio, I sit here with a heavy heart. I know that these circumstances are still under investigation, however, I am sitting back and praying for God to use them in a mighty way. The details that have been released brings me great sorrow. As I sat, physically ill over what I'd heard last night, I realized that this is just one city. Things that shock us happen daily, why you ask, because we live in a world flooded with sin. I am sure all of you who read can agree, the times seem to be darkening right in front of our eyes.

I am sad for so many reasons. I am sad for the woman who is now in the hospital, though it was her actions that led her there. I am sad for the woman who was held against her will, and how she will be able to get back to normal. The media loves to hone in on such incidents and make it hard to get back to life. I am also sad for the officers involved, yet praising God for their quick response and calm natu…

"And forgive us our debts" starts off our next line in the prayer. We ask God to forgive us our debts, our trespasses, our sins. We are the product of a fallen world which means sin is inevideble, it's just what we do. As the matter of fact if you are reading this and think that you do not sin, you have just landed yourself in the sin of pride. When I was praying on what do say about forgiveness, God brought to mind a devotion that I had written about a year and a half ago. I hope you enjoy.

On to my favorite topic, food! Verse 11 says "Give us this day our daily bread". I don't know about you but I could never do the Adkins diet, I love bread way too much. I believe God shares this love with me because the word bread is mentioned over 300 times in the bible. Looking into this verse, I have been asking God to reveal to me what our daily bread pertains to. Is He speaking about food, or is He speaking about His truth. After much research and prayer the answer is C, all of the above.

I love that He does speak of the kind of bread that tastes so good, especi…

His will be done!

Happy New Year to all of you. I pray you had a safe holiday. Can you believe it's 2012? It just doesn't seem right to write that date on my checks. I'm not sure if I am more shocked that 2011 is gone or that I am the only person in the grocery store that still writes checks. As we start the new year, we will continue with the Lord's prayer.

When I read the next verse "Thy will be done in earth as it is in heaven" I wondered how all those years of reciting this could go by and I wasn't even sure of what I was saying.

I was reading in Jonah where God call…
